CIMA has a vision to protect Indonesian seafarer while working aboard foreign vessel, tools for expanding the maritime labour market abroad and educating the seafarer through working on foreign vessel. The function is to unite, protect and to struggle for the interest our members and to maintain the business ability, reach a common goal to provide our principal with good and capable seafarers from Indonesia.
The main objective and Work Programmed of the association are:
1. To widen the working maritime market abroad
2. To increase the capability of the Indonesian seafarer
3. To maintain good relation ship with the government agencies and maritime authorities especially in formulating governments regulations relating to the maritime labor activities
4. To maintain the relationship with other related domestic and international associations and active to take part in the maritime labor issues
5. Conducting activities related to upgrading of seafarers by conducting courses, seminars etc
Two main issues are also under CIMA main pillar that is :
1. The terrorist issue with regard to Indonesian seafarer
2. SID and maritime labor convention by ILO
